Woo hoo! My catalogs are coming. I am planning on ordering from Nichols, Baker Creek, and Seed Savers. Nichols and Seed Savers came Saturday. I have been fantasizing about fruits and vegetables all day (lol).
I am really excited about the Ecology Lawn mix from Nichols. It is a low water/mow mix of grasses, wildflowers, and herbs. I have been having a hard time deciding what to do with our lawn because I do think its very important to have an open space for the kids and dog to play. This should take care of that!!!

Really? When do you generally order? And you start everything from seed? When do you plant (typically, I'm guessing you try to wait until after first frost?). I'd really love to get stuff in our one bed at the "right time" this year, but am not sure what I should be doing.
I order in Janueary.....some of the earliest seeds need to be started indoors 10 weeks before last frost which is 4/26 for me:) Plus, some of the varities sell out early:) When to plant depends on what you're planting....again, I start a lot indoors, but even for direct sowing, things like peas, need to go out before last frost. Basically, decide what you want to grow and then look up when to sow them.
Thanks! I looks like I'll have a lot to think about when we get back :)
